Position Title: Argus Application Field Support Technician
Department: Service and Small Projects (SSP)
Job Summary:

The Application Field Support Technician addresses all technical support issues and related processes that may prevent Argus and BMS solutions from being continuously operated at client site with performance levels that meet or exceed the agreed upon specifications. This accountability starts when the Project Design Team hands over a completed project to the SSP and continues for the expected lifetime of the product. The Application Field Technician is also responsible for any on-site work including but not limited to commissioning, training and other tasks as assigned by the Director of SSP. A key objective of the SSP member is to maintain client relationships with the enterprise by responding to all inquiries in a timely manner with the most accurate information possible using whatever media is appropriate.

Reports to: Director of Service and Small Projects
Duties:

  • Provide timely response to customer inquiries using whatever media that is available.
  • Project startup and commissioning for controls systems and fertigation equipment
  • Provide on -site installation support, panel terminations, commissioning, and basic end user training.
  • Provide suggestions where appropriate, or when the client is unsure how to approach an application.
  • Communicate with the project manager and Project Design Team to get a clear understanding of the project scope, timing, and any other useful information to assist in working towards closing the project: system configuration, commissioning, and user training.
  • Reporting any new business opportunities to the sales team including expansions, updates or upgrades.
  • Closely monitor client needs such that systems can be evolved to meet their needs.  This includes constant contact with clients throughout the life of the system and co-ordination with the rest of the enterprise as needed. This includes soliciting feedback on our performance and relationship management and identifying new business opportunities or any challenges encountered.
  • Continue to educate users on the technical and operational specifications of their Argus related equipment.
  • Provide appropriate hardware and software support and direct the SSP department to dispatch replacement parts by use of our Service Event procedures, in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with third party providers or clients to identify and resolve site specific Argus and BMS related issues.
  • Document and present clearly to the supervisor and clients the possible consequences of application decisions or judgments that are overruled or disregarded (e.g., not configuring alarms).
  • Comply with policies and procedures as specified in the TC Controls Employee Policy Manual and Quality Management System.
  • Comply with any local electrical codes, regulations or laws as applicable.
  • Constantly communicate schedule, and job status with the project manager and design teams.
  • Document site visits.
  • Document any customer feedback into company Quality Management System as appropriate.
Working Conditions:

  • Work is mainly performed in the field at a job site or in a remote office location with minimal supervision.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide training, sales support, attend trade shows or other events to promote the Argus and TCC brands or to maintain customer relationships as required. The expectation is to be out of the office an average of 3 weeks per month and will fluctuate depending on the demands of our clients.
  • This is a full-time position based on a 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, unless otherwise specified
Employment Requirements:

  • Diploma in Technology or Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • Knowledge of Irrigation designs and systems desired
  • 3-5 years’ experience servicing the horticultural Industry or Indoor grow facilities preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time on short notice
  • Good command of the English language both written and oral.
  • Field installation, commissioning and startup experience
  • Self-Starter, team player and service excellence mindset
  • Able to interpret industry standard electrical schematics, plans and specifications
  • Experience with Argus Control products or Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems.
  • HVAC or low voltage installation experience an asset
  • Training will be provided, support from internal service team provided.
  • Employee to provide own tools as needed.
