This Farm, located in northern New England recently expanded to produce over two million heads of lettuce a year! TCC was excited to be apart of such a unique, but increasingly popular way to farm lettuce and other leafy greens: Aquaponics. Aquaponics is where the farm utilizes waste by-product from fish (tilapia) as a food source for the bacteria. It’s then converted into an ideal fertilizer for the plants. Its a great example of the cooperation between fish and plants, just like mother nature does in every aquatic ecosystem. TCC utilized both Argus and JCI to accuracy measure and control pH, temperature, humidity, PAR and other critical factors to create the ideal, controllable ecosystem to produce millions of heads of lettuce per year.
